| BA AND MA JOURNALISM
For up to date information about journalism courses please visit the new BA journalism and MA journalism course site Winchester Journalism.
BA journalism is unique in the way it combines elements of magazine journalism and feature writing with television and radio news journalism and the way it does this within an international context and with international journalism always in mind.
Assessment: Assessment takes place throughout the programme by way of essays, presentations, performance in practical components, work placements and examinations. Students also complete a Final Year Project during Level 3. It explores an academic aspect of journalism or international journalism develops a practical project in which the student researches, writes and produces an investigatory feature.
The course is fully validated by the broadcast journalism training council and in both 2010 and 2011 was the BJTC's course of the year for innovation in journalism teaching. The award was given for the quality of teaching and student experience gained working on the Winchester News Online project.
Career opportunities: Graduates will go into print, broadcast and electronic media as reporters, producers and researchers. Others enter public relations, marketing and the information services. The programme provides a firm basis for postgraduate study or further training.
